Client: Mubi Student Work

Mubi is a Netflix competitor that focuses on a smaller selection of curated movies that subscribers won’t have to search through to find something they’d love. To promote this, we created the Cult of Cult Films, a real fake cult that preys upon people’s dissatisfaction with their entertainment choices and rescues them from eternal damnation inside film limbo.

We’ll take the Cult of Cult Films posters to the streets, guerrilla style, as any self-respecting cult should. We’ll especially target population-dense urban areas with lots of art and culture.

Online, we’ll target “rating hunters” browsing through IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.

Then we’ll recruit where the truly desperate go - film suggestion articles.

We’ll also reach out on the film sections of newspapers, a more traditional tool of cult recruitment.

In a twist, CCF.com turns out to be nothing
but a vanity link for Mubi, the answer to
their endless search.
